Albany Stadium Pool is designed for family fun and education. Although there is a lap swimming pool (20m) its priority first and foremost is for leisure and learning to swim.
Opened 28 January 2017 our exciting new leisure pool is full of fantastic interactive water features such as the over-the-pool climbing wall and splash pad! A great destination for families who want to have fun in the water, there’s inflatables and water cannons for people of all ages. Want to relax? We have a huge adult spa and sauna. In the mood to get active, we have a state-of-the-art fitness centre and small holistic group fitness classes. Need a quick snack or a coffee on-the-go? We have a cafe at reception with delicious coffee and cabinet food.
Accessibility: We welcome everyone regardless of ability. Some pools have ramp entry and we have a disability hoist and water wheelchair onsite for access assistance into the spa and Leisure pool. Why choose our Learn to Swim classes?
- We are a member of Swim Coaches Teachers New Zealand (SCTNZ)

- We care about teaching water safety. All our students are taught key water safety skills first, then progress to mastering swimming skills.
- All our instructors are either AUSTSWIM qualified or are working towards becoming AUSTSWIM qualified.
- As a community facility, we are more affordable than many private providers.
Our facility accommodates family members of all ages. We have a shallower, warmer learn to swim pool and a bigger pool for deep water confidence and greater distance.
Accessibility and inclusion at our swim school
Here at Albany Stadium Pool, we are beginning our journey towards a more inclusive centre. We are working to ensure that our staff are considering the individual needs of students and are learning how to modify their practices to cater to more young people with disabilities or impairments. Our team are happy to talk about how we can create a better opportunity and experience for your child.

Rehab Lane
To better support our community’s health and wellbeing, we are introducing a dedicated Rehab Lane at Albany Stadium Pool from Monday 16 February:
- The Rehab Lane will always be available whenever there is no Learn to Swim sessions running.
- When the lane is not being used for rehab, it will operate as one of our two medium‑speed lane‑swimming lanes.
Who is the Rehab Lane for?
The Rehab Lane is designed for people who need a quieter space to move safely at their own pace, including those:
- recovering post‑surgery or after injury
- preparing for surgery to build strength and mobility
- managing long‑term conditions such as knee, hip or joint issues
- working with a physiotherapist or following a rehab plan
The warm water and low‑impact environment make it ideal for building confidence, flexibility, and strength.
Physiotherapists welcome
Physios are welcome to bring clients to use the Rehab Lane during available times. Please contact us directly for more information at albanystadiumpool@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz.
Our team can help you find the best membership option for you and your clients’ needs.
Please see our reception team for details.
Why we’re making this change
This update helps us:
- provide consistent access for rehab and therapeutic swimming
- support those with mobility challenges
- balance the needs of all swimmers during busy times
We appreciate your support as we continue improving access for everyone who uses Albany Stadium Pool.
