Moana Nui-a-Kiwa centre updates

UPDATE: 11 February 2023

Our Centre will be operating as an Auckland Emergency Management Centre and will be closed for normal operations effective from 2pm Sunday 12 February.

All "normal" services will be closed from 2pm Sunday. Last entry into the facilities on Sunday will be 1pm.

  • All memberships will be automatically suspended from Monday 13 February until end of day Tuesday 14 February. Note: this may be extended if the site is required by AEM beyond Tuesday.
  • All bookings will be cancelled and staff will be in contact as soon as possible to discuss re-booking/ payments
  • All classes will be cancelled until end of day Tuesday- this includes Group Fitness and Learn to Swim

UPDATE: 13 April 2022

Moving to Orange

As per the Government's announcement, Auckland will be moving to the Orange setting of the COVID-19 Protection Framework from 11.59pm Wednesday 13 April 2022. 

Leisure centre facilities are open, including gyms, indoor recreation programmes, pools, splash pads, spa, sauna and steam rooms.

Face masks must still be worn by everyone aged 12 and over at public facilities, except around swimming pools or while exercising.

UPDATE: 4 April 2022

Vaccination Requirement Update

From midnight on 4 April 2022, there will be no requirement to use My Vaccine Pass at our pool and leisure centres.

Masks are still required indoors in our facilities except when exercising or on poolside.

We will continue to display our QR codes at reception/front door for those who would like to keep scanning, however, scanning is not mandatory.

UPDATE: Tuesday 1 March

Great news! Our Indoor pool complex including spa and sauna will reopen on Wednesday 2 March - Friday 4 March at reduced hours.

Wednesday 2 March - Friday 4 March Services and Hours 

Fitness: 5.30am-7pm

Customer Service: 5.30am-7pm

Aquatics: 6am - 6pm, Wednesday and Thursday. 9am - 6pm, Friday. Closed, Saturday and Sunday

Recreation: Closed

Outdoor Pools: Closed

We recommend you check the website and/or our Facebook page prior to visiting the centre as the services we are operating could change under short notice.


UPDATE: Monday 28 February 2022

Change in opening hours Monday 28 Feb - Friday 4 Mar:

Fitness: 5.30am-7pm

Recreation: Closed all week 

Aquatics: CLOSED on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday  (we will reassess hours for the rest of the week over the next two days)

Outdoor Pools: CLOSED

Customer Service: 5.30am-7pm as normal

If there are any changes to next weekend's hours, we will update our Facebook page and website.


UPDATE: Saturday 26 February 2022

Closed Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 February.

Next week, we will be open with reduced hours from Monday 28 February to Friday 4 March.

We have kept programmes and services open where we can and hope this will be a short pause in those affected areas.

UPDATE: Thursday 24 February 2022

CENTRE CLOSURE: Friday 25 Feb - Sunday 27 Feb 2022. 

All lessons, recreation activities, and group fitness have been cancelled during this time.

Apologies for the short notice but unfortunately our teams have been affected by the spread of Omicron and several staff members are needing to self-isolate to keep our community safe.

At this stage, we expect to be open on Monday 28 Feb. There are likely going to be changes to our hours so keep an eye on your emails, our Facebook page, and website for any updates.

» Single-site memberships will be put on hold

If you are on a Swim it, Gym it, or Move it membership, your account has been automatically suspended for the 3-day closure and you will be credited for the 3 days.

» Get into it memberships will stay active

While we are closed, members who have a Get into it still have access to other centres in the area. However, if you'd like to put it on hold during the closure, you can do this on myLEISURE online.

Visit our myLEISURE Support page if you need help. 

Alternatively, you can email us at mangerepools@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz with your suspension request. This may take up to 48 hours to process as our staff are experiencing a larger volume of enquiries.

Vaccination Requirement: During RED and ORANGE, all customers aged 12 and over will be required to show their vaccine pass to staff upon entry. 

All pools and leisure centres will remain open during the RED setting of the Covid-19 protection framework.
  • Memberships and passes will remain active. If you wish to suspend your membership please create a myLEISURE account.
  • Please see how our centres are operating in RED.

All members, pass-holders, and swim school students should have received an email from us about our vaccination approach. It's important you read this and make sure you understand what our approach is. If you did not receive an email, please contact your local pool and leisure centre.

3 December: Gym and group fitness opens as normal. Aqua classes from Monday 6 December. 
6 December: Pools open as normal including lane swimming and play swimming, spa, sauna, splash pad, and outdoor pools. Learn to Swim Term 4 2021 begins.
13 December: Holiday Programme begins

OSCAR will not run this term.

» Limited Capacity: some smaller spaces will have a limited capacity. Where there is no capacity limit, we ask that all customers maintain 1m physical distancing from others. This includes lane space.

  • Upper gym - 25 people max
  • Lower gym - 14 people max
  • Studio 1 - 20 people max
  • Aqua classes - 10 people max
  • Sauna - 2 people max
  • Spa - 4 people max

UPDATE effective from Monday 8 November 2021

Auckland: Moving to Alert Level 3 Step 2.

Tāmaki Makaurau will move to Alert Level 3 Step 2 at 11.59 pm Tuesday 9 November 2021.
 
Our gyms and pools remain closed for now. We'll have further updates over the coming weeks.
All memberships and lessons remain on hold.
Outdoor Fitness Sessions: While our facilities are closed, some of our leisure centres are still delivering Outdoor Fitness Sessions for $10 each during Level 3. To see what classes are available near you, visit myLEISURE.
Facebook Live Group Fitness: We are also still running our FB Live Group Fitness classes in our members-only group. Join our Facebook Group here.

The government has made an in-principle decision to move Tāmaki Makaurau to Alert Level 3 Step 2 on Tuesday 9 November.
 
If we are to move stages:
  • Our centres remain closed, including the pools during Alert Level 3 Step 2.
  • Memberships and lessons remain on hold until we reopen

Auckland: ALERT LEVEL 4 for next 7 days
Rest of New Zealand: ALERT LEVEL 4 for next 3 days

Following on from the Government announcement this evening, from 11.59pm tonight 17 August, all of New Zealand moves to Alert Level 4. The Alert Level will be reviewed after 3 days with the exception of Auckland Tāmaki Makaurau and the Coromandel Peninsula which will stay at Alert Level 4 for 7 days.
Our centre will be closed for a period of 7 days initially while we wait for further updates from the Government.

This includes:

- All pools (including spas/saunas/steam rooms)
- Group fitness classes
- Gym
- Learn to Swim

If you have a membership with us, this will be automatically suspended until we can reopen again.

We will keep this page up-to-date with the latest information when we have it available. You can find the latest information on COVID-19 and the lockdown itself on the Ministry of Health's dedicated COVID-19 website.

Rest of New Zealand: ALERT LEVEL 1

Auckland is back at Alert Level 1 effective from 12pm Friday 12 March 2021. This means that our centre will be back to our Level 1 standards from Saturday 13 March. While some Level 2 restrictions will be lifted from 12pm today, our staff will be working hard to get our centre back to our Level 1 standard for tomorrow.

The Government has announced that Auckland will move up to Alert Level 3 at 6am, Sunday 28 February for 7 days, therefore our centre will be closed.

This includes:

- Group fitness classes
- Gym
- Swim programmes
- OSCAR programmes
- Pools (including spas, saunas and steam rooms)
- Recreation/Term programmes

If you have a membership with us, this will be automatically suspended until we can reopen again.

We will keep this page up-to-date with the latest information when we have it available, but for now please keep practicing good hygiene, social distancing, noting your whereabouts, wearing a mask, and getting tested if you have any symptoms.
